State Police Seize 42 Firearms and Psilocybin in Black Brook Search

State Police arrested a Black Brook man this week after a search warrant turned up dozens of weapons, ammunition, and mushrooms at a home on Birchwood Drive.
Members of the New York State Police Violent Gangs and Narcotics Enforcement Team executed the warrant at 8 Birchwood Drive on August 4. Troopers seized 42 firearms, including two fully assembled assault rifles, a sawed-off shotgun, and multiple major components for building additional assault rifles. They also found 11 high-capacity ammunition feeding devices, a large quantity of assorted ammunition, and roughly 51 grams of psilocybin mushrooms.

Michael S. Ward was arrested and charged with three counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third degree, a felony, and one count of Criminal Possession of a Firearm, also a felony. He was arraigned and is being held at the Clinton County Jail.
The case was handled by Troop B, headquartered in Ray Brook.
