New York State Police are investigating a suspicious death on Carey Road in Jay. Residents are asked to check security footage from Saturday night to Sunday.
A woman was found dead in a residence on Carey Road in Jay on Sunday morning. State Police say they received a report of a deceased female at approximately 10:05 a.m. and found the woman inside the residence.
A preliminary investigation determined the victim had non-self-inflicted injuries, according to State Police. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
As part of the ongoing investigation, State Police are asking residents and businesses in the surrounding area to review security camera footage for any suspicious activity between approximately 10:30 p.m. on Saturday and 9:00 a.m. on Sunday.
