Tucker J. Taylor of Ausable Forks is in custody for the murder of Patricia Lawrence in Jay. The investigation involves multiple Adirondack law agencies.
State Police say they arrested Tucker J. Taylor, 48, of Ausable Forks, and charged him with second-degree murder in connection with the death of Patricia Lawrence, 54, in Jay. Taylor was arraigned September 13 and remanded to the Essex County Jail without bail.
Police responded to 150 Carey Road on August 2 after Lawrence was found dead inside her home.
An autopsy performed on August 3 by forensic pathologist Dr. Michael Sikirica at Glens Falls Hospital determined Lawrence died from severe hemorrhaging caused by stab wounds to the neck, which severed her right jugular vein and perforated her right carotid artery and left jugular vein. The manner of death was ruled a homicide.
Investigators say an extensive investigation, including multiple search warrants, led them to identify Taylor as a suspect. The investigation was led by State Police with assistance from the Plattsburgh Police Department, Lake Placid Police Department, Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, Essex County Sheriff’s Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
Taylor was taken into custody and processed at State Police in Plattsburgh without incident. He was then transported to Elizabethtown Town Court for arraignment on September 13 and was remanded to the Essex County Jail without bail. The Essex County District Attorney’s Office will prosecute the case.
Taylor is scheduled to reappear in Elizabethtown Town Court on September 18 at 4 p.m. for a felony hearing.
