Veterans in the Tri-Lakes region can access free health screenings, meals, and VA benefits at the Harrietstown Town Hall in Saranac Lake on Nov. 14, 2026.
Veterans throughout the Tri-Lakes region will have an opportunity to access free services, health screenings, meals and other resources during the Saranac Lake Veterans Stand Down on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2026.
The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Harrietstown Town Hall, located at 39 Main Street in downtown Saranac Lake.
The stand down is designed to bring essential services together in one location, making it easier for veterans to receive assistance, connect with available programs and learn about benefits they may qualify for.
Organizers say the event will offer a variety of free services, including:
VA enrollment and identification:
On-the-spot enrollment assistance and VA identification cards.
Veterans benefits:
Assistance with service-connected disability claims and related benefits.
Health services:
Medical screenings and opportunities to connect with health care resources.
Essential supplies:
Free clothing and personal hygiene items.
Meals:
Breakfast and lunch provided to attendees.
Personal care:
Free haircuts for veterans.
By bringing multiple resources under one roof, the event aims to reduce barriers for veterans seeking assistance, particularly those living in rural communities where services may be spread across several locations.
For veterans who have questions about their eligibility for benefits, need help navigating the VA system or simply want to learn what resources are available, the event provides an opportunity to speak with service representatives in person.
The event is free, and veterans are encouraged to attend.
