Saranac Lake DPW begins milling and paving on several village streets starting August 17. Expect traffic delays and watch for signage in work zones.
The Village of Saranac Lake’s Department of Public Works will begin milling several streets this week, followed by paving work next week, weather permitting.
Milling starts the week of August 17. Crews will grind the surface on Grove Street, Lake Street from Main Street to View Street, Seneca Avenue, Dorchester Road, Fairview Avenue and Franklin Avenue. The process removes worn pavement and prepares the road for a fresh surface.
Paving is slated for the week of August 24. On Monday, August 24, workers will lay the binder course—a middle layer of asphalt—on Ampersand Avenue. The same day they will also begin work on John Munn Road. The binder course is the second layer that adds strength before the final surface is applied.
The notice says the paving will proceed “weather permitting,” so residents should expect possible delays if rain or extreme temperatures occur.
The DPW has not announced road closures or detour routes in the notice. Drivers should stay alert for signage and expect slower traffic in the work zones.
